Twenty years ago this week, Raving I’m raving by Shut Up And Dance featuring Peter Bouncer entered the UK singles chart at number 2. This was the highest position the record achieved as it dropped out of the top 10 the following week and then out of the top 40 a week later.

Raving I'm raving was released on the Shut Up And Dance record label and was the only top 10 hit for the duo in the UK. It was taken from the album Death is not the end, which peaked at number 38 in the UK album chart later in 1992.

The rapid descent of the single from its peak of number 2 was the result of the record being banned. The duo had used a sample of Marc Cohn's Walking in Memphis without permission and were forced to withdraw the single from sale. All proceeds were then given to charity.
