This week in 1992, God gave rock and roll to you II by Kiss reached its highest position of number 4 in the UK singles chart. It had entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 21 and broke into the top 10 in its second week. After one week at its peak position, the song spent another two weeks in the top 10. A further two weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.

God gave rock and roll to you II was released on the Interscope record label and was the second and final UK top 10 hit for Kiss. It was taken from the soundtrack album for the film Bill and Ted's bogus journey but was also included on the band's album Revenge, which peaked at number 10 in the UK album chart later in 1992.

The song was a reworking of an earlier recording. The original God gave rock and roll to you was taken to number 18 by Argent in 1973.
