Hit – Sugarcubes

The Sugarcubes occupied the UK top 40 for five weeks in 1992 with this track.

Twenty years ago this week, Hit by the Sugarcubes reached its highest position of number 17 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 27. After one week at its peak position, the song remained in the top 40 for another two weeks and then left the chart.

Hit was released on the One Little Indian record label and was the only top 40 entry for the Sugarcubes. It was the first track taken from the album Stick around for joy, which peaked at number 16 in the UK album chart later in 1992.
