Oh Julie by Shakin' Stevens pushed aside The land of make believe by Bucks Fizz to secure the top of the UK singles chart this week in 1982. It had entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 13 and reached the top 3 in its second week. After just one week at number 1, the song made way for Computer love / The model by Kraftwerk.
The song spent another three weeks in the top 10 after falling from the top, two of them in the top 3. A further three weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Oh Julie was released on the Epic record label and was certified gold. It was the first track taken from the platinum-selling album Give me your heart tonight, which reached number 3 in the UK album chart. The single was the third of four number 1 hits for Shakin' Stevens in the UK.
