This week in 1972, Where did our love go by Donnie Elbert was at number 8 in the UK singles chart for the first of two weeks, having entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 28. These were the only two weeks that the record occupied the top 10, but it remained in the lower top 40 for another four weeks before leaving the chart.

Where did our love go was released on the London record label and was the only top 10 hit for Donnie Elbert in the UK. It was taken from the album of the same name, which failed to enter the album top 40.

The song reached number 3 in its original version by the Supremes in 1964. It crept into the top 40 again in 1978 when Manhattan Transfer's version peaked at number 40.
